Hezekiah Recovers From A Boil
II Kings 20:7 NKJV
[7] Then Isaiah said, “Take a lump of figs.” So they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
We carefully skipped this verse yesterday because we needed to explain how heaven responded to Hezekiah's prayers. Beyond the prophetic pronouncement by Isaiah, the healing actually occurred. Today we are confronted with whether it's okay to take treatment for your healing in the new testament as was demonstrated here in the old.
Here's a report from a group. If anyone "..is sick of fever, or suffers from headache, constipation or any other form of ailment, all they do is to pray. They do not apply any kind of medicine because they believe that it is a sin to do so". They believe that faith and prayer are the only thing needed in the life of a Christian. Here the Prophet said they should lay a lump of figs on the boil.
Here's the position of Health and Faith 102. " There are some Christians who believe that seeking medical help shows a lack of faith in God. Some Christians wrongly think they should throw away their medicines and only pray for healing. When we think about how we behave in other areas of our lives, we see that this is not a logical view". Here's a panoramic view in the Bible of people who used treatment. " These include applying:bandages (Isaiah 1:6) oil (James 5:14) oil and wine (Luke 10:34) leaves (Ezekiel 47:12) balm (Jeremiah 8:22). We know that Luke, the author of Acts and the gospel of Luke, was a doctor (Colossians 4:14). And Paul once gave Timothy advice on medical treatment (1 Timothy 5:23). Doctors are referred to about 12 times in the Bible". The beauty of the verse is that Hezekiah recovered. Before we do any further damage, please, take treatment, recover. Let God do the healing. Good morning.
