The Fear Of Jezebel

The Fear Of Jezebel
I Kings 19:1-2 NKJV
[1] And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. [2] Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”

One of the most exciting reports on Jezebel is actually from a study center. Here's how they describe her, "Jezebel is one of the most infamous figures in the entire Bible.....( She )  was a Phoenician princess who married Ahab, the seventh king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, and ruled as his queen around the mid-ninth century BCE. Her father was King Ethbaal of Sidon, according to the Hebrew Bible. Jezebel worshiped the Canaanite storm god Ba'al and converted her husband to Ba'alism as well. Most of the story of Jezebel is focused on her treachery and worship of Ba'al in opposition to the Israelite god Yahweh and his prophets". The name is associated with a spirit to describe her character. Hope Bolinger puts it bluntly, " The Jezebel Spirit term is often used to describe someone who uses cunning, deception, and seduction to tear apart entire marriages, churches, and other entities. Unlike many evil spirits, the Jezebel Spirit operates more subtly and sinisterly".  This description is in view of Jezebel's nature in relationships. She killed Naboth, took his vineyard, ruled Ahab, the husband, threatened Prophet Elijah, and promised to kill him. The woman was the real king of Samaria. One scholar describes what constitute the Jezebel Spirit in these words, "...everything from sexual looseness in a woman to the teaching of false doctrine—by a man or a woman". That should give you an idea why Elijah ran after a heavy display of anointing. Fear is the strongest weapon the devil has. The Man of God ran. Her obsessive passion to control Ahab is described as witchcraft. In Rev.2:18-25, theres a reference to a woman in the Church of Thyatira who is compared to Jezebel. Jesus hated her influence and gave instructions that she should not be tolerated. Here's someone's conclusion of this character. " Perhaps the best way to define the Jezebel spirit is to say it characterizes anyone who acts in the same manner as Jezebel did, engaging in immorality, idolatry, false teaching, and unrepentant sin". Most Jezebels today are called Narcissists. Have you had any experience with this spirit? Its  a very draining spirit. We are stronger because the victory of the blood of Jesus Christ. Good morning.
