The Prophecy Fulfilled.
I Kings 22:37-38, 40 NKJV
[37] So the king died, and was brought to Samaria. And they buried the king in Samaria. [38] Then someone washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood while the harlots bathed, according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken.
[40] So Ahab rested with his fathers. Then Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
We are familiar with the arguments of Ahab's death and whether Elijah's Elijah's prophecies were fulfilled. Benjamin Fireman has done a beautiful work in the Journal of Evangelical Theological Society( June 2015). Well, Micaiah's prophecy was fulfilled. Read the conclusions again. The dogs licked his blood while harlots bathed in the water.
Here is how one scholar reports that end, " There seems to have been a little fear in Ahab's heart that Micaiah's word would come to pass, for Ahab disguised himself before he went to battle. But a disguise can never prevent the word of the Lord from being fulfilled.". The word says, " The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). It follows up in Galatians " Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (6:7). Ahab reaped what he sowed, and wasted a whole generation.
Imagine God's gestures of love to bring him to senses. Imagine all the warnings and prophecies. The irony is tbat the struggle for our salvation continues today. We can only learn from Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Has the word of God gone forth, be careful, because it will come to pass. Jehoshaphat must have learnt that evil association will wound you. Be careful Gods prophecies are still being fulfilled. Good morning.
